Life Lately

7.01.2013

I know, I know, I disappeared again! I haven't written on my blog, or even read anyone else's blog since last Tuesday!!

It has been so crazy around here.

First the whole family was sick with some sort of crap-tastic virus that lingers like you wouldn't believe. It has been two weeks now and we all still have coughs and a little congestion here and there.

Last Monday I finished my very first WORDPRESS DESIGN!!!! It was so fun to do and I learned so much!!! I can not wait to do more and build up a small portfolio. (hint hint... need a few more to do! booking for August) Then I plan to add it to my services on my site. Eventually we may make the move over. EEK!

Then Tuesday we were finally all starting to feel a little better and had been stuck in the house for way too many days, so we decided to take Baby Bear out for a little fun. It was MOVIE TIME!!!

We went to a nearby theater, got the biggest popcorn and soda they had, and enjoyed this adorable movie. I loved the first Monsters Inc. movie and was worried I wouldn't like the second as much, but you know what... I was so not disappointed. It was such a cute movie and we all enjoyed it. Afterwards we went to Grandma's work and had a bite to eat. By the end of the night we were so exhausted and when we got home we did nothing but lounge.

Then Thursday we happened to have another free hotel stay like we used to do. We checked in, got a bite for dinner, and then took Baby Bear to the pool and let her do some swimming. After that it was already close to bedtime so we just go up to the room and do a little relaxing. She always loves going there because she gets a huge bed all to herself. She actually sleeps pretty good when we are there too. It's just Papa Bear and I that don't. lol

Friday morning we got up and went and grabbed a bite for breakfast in the little cafe that's in the hotel. Afterwards we all went back to the room and started packing. Baby Bear was so upset to leave her "new room" with her BIG BED. She had still been sleeping in her toddler bed at home. This is when Papa Bear and I realized that it was definitely time for the switch. Baby Bear needed a big girl bed. We have had a daybed down in the basement all along, we just hadn't switched yet because we wanted to refinish it first, and we were worried that it wouldn't fit well in her room because her room is pretty small. So when we got home we brought it up from the basement and started cleaning it. It's nothing super fabulous, just an older metal framed daybed. But to Baby Bear, it's the coolest thing there is. So once it was cleaned up we all went to the store and let Baby Bear pick out her own bedding. This is a big moment and she deserves to have the chance to make her room exactly what SHE wants it to be. After she picked her bedding we came home, ate lunch, and she went down for her last nap in her toddler bed. It was the conversion of her crib, so it's really the only bed she has ever known. Once she napped and the bedding was washed (please tell me I am not the only one who washed things before I'll use them) Papa Bear and I cleared her room out completely and started putting together her new bed. We wouldn't let her look in her room AT ALL until everything was set up just the way we wanted it. Once she was allowed through that door this is what happened!
There was no getting her to leave her room for the rest of the day except to eat and use the restroom. So we didn't have a whole lot of family time that night, but she was so happy so we were totally okay with that.

Then Saturday morning she woke up complaining about her ear hurting. She was in tears so you just knew it was hurting really badly. Her normal doctor (who I'm not really fond of) is never in office on a Saturday. But when Papa Bear and I went to the doctor earlier that week we noticed that they had a pediatrician in office. I decided to call and see if we could get in there. Well it turns out they had an open appointment and she either has swimmers ear or an ear infection. Both were highly possible with the events of the previous week, but he couldn't see her drum because her ear canal was swollen and he didn't want to hurt it worse. So he gave us an antibiotic and some ear drops and we came home and relaxed for the rest of the day. Since then she has done nothing but play in her room or sit in my lap because her ear is still hurting. But you can tell she is slowly getting better.

It feels like it has been such a busy past couple of weeks with all of that going on, but now our days are going to start getting even busier as we start preparing for our 4th of July celebrations! This year we are hosting it and still have alot to do. But I am really excited!
