Last night Papa Bear told me about something that he read, and all I could do was sit there and shake my head at the immaturity of some of the "adults" that are out there.
There was apparently this huge conference in the techie world and during this conference there were a couple of guys sitting a few rows behind this woman. The guys were making sexual innuendos using coding terms. Well this woman got so offended that she decided to sneak a picture of the two guys and bash them on twitter where she has over 10,000 followers. Things eventually blow up and these two guys get fired from their jobs, and she in the end gets fired from hers as well. When it is all said and done she said that it was because there was a girl near her who was so new to coding and at the conference to learn. So she wanted the guys to be quiet.... She bashed them on twitter and lost her amazing job because she wanted them to be quiet...
Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous?
If you want them to be quiet, why not just turn around and ask them to please be quiet so that you can hear the speaker? Wouldn't that have been the mature and responsible way to have behaved? Instead she sneaks a photo and goes to town bashing them.
Because of this one irresponsible moment they all lost their nice comfy jobs.
This kind of tells me that maybe social media is taking over big time, and not always in the best way. She could have spoke three words, and instead she turned to social media and it went wrong and she is now paying for it.
The thing that really gets me is that this kind of crap happens all the time. You see blogger wars, and Twitter fights constantly. Let's not even start with drama on Facebook. What really gets me is that most of the people in these fights don't know each other at all. They may have read blogs, but they get so worked up over something that something that someone somewhere else says.
Why do we let it get to us that bad. I mean don't we just do this because we enjoy it. So what if someone doesn't like what you say? Or so what if someone makes a generalization on their blog that slightly offends you!Don't leave nasty anonymous comments...Just don't follow them anymore. It is as simple as that.
We should be using this social media to do just that, socialize. Yet somehow.. some people manage to turn it into something so ugly, something that it was never meant to be.
No I am not talking about anyone in particular. It's just that this one instant that has nothing to do with me really got me thinking about what I have seen happen over the last couple of years that I have been on here.
