Well, last week one of Sydney's best friends had a birthday party. We could have made it to the lesson in time but we would have had to leave the party before presents. So I gave Sydney the choice and she decided to skip it since the birthday girl and her little sister were in the same class and they obviously weren't going either. We figured we had one more week so what was the big deal...
Apparently I miscounted when I added the swimming lessons to my planner. So we take Sydney and her friends to their swimming lessons. We get their suits on and are sitting there waiting. Then we see our teacher walk by with a different class. WOMP WOMP WOMP!!! She stops and tells us that last week was the last week but that we missed it.
What??? Our kids are ready to swim! What do we do??? Well we take them to a nearby hotel and let them swim in the big pool there. So in this case Mrs. Becky was the lifesaver for having that idea. At first Sydney did the same thing she always does and would only swim in the little hot tub with her puddle jumper on. She just doesn't like how cold pools are. I may or may not have been a little aggravated when her friends would go to the pool and she would stay in the not super clean looking hot tub.
Eventually we got her INTO THE POOL!!!

We were so proud because she was swimming like a pro with her friends! She even swam from one end of the pool to another. That other end was over 5 ft deep. I was so proud of her! The kicker is that she learned more from going to this pool this one time than she did in 8 weeks of paid lessons. Now we have a standing swimming date with our friends on Sundays just to keep them going. Plus it will be a way to forget about how cold and snowy it is going to be here soon!

She's too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat accomplishment for Sydney, and a really good thing to learn at a young age.
