pumpkins

10.31.2012

There is one thing that I LOVE about Halloween time...other than my little girl getting all dressed up super cutesy.
It's the tradition of carving pumpkins with my family. This year instead of going to a pumpkin patch we stopped and got them from a house that we passed often and noticed all of the pumpkins. We got 3 pumpkins for $5!!! That is ridiculously cheap!
Last year we spent $20 on one pumpkin!
So we got three pumpkins on Friday and brought them home. Then on Sunday we finally decided it was time to clean them out and start carving!
Hubs was cleaning them out and I was on seed duty! I couldn't let a single seed go to waste because I had plans for them when we were done! Kiddo helped more this year than last yes, but not as much as Ithought she would. She kept freaking out about the goo.
In the end she was one happy camper! Mine is on the left, hers in the middle, and Daddy's on the right. We were aiming for fun, not perfection. Next year we may get the templates and try something other than just faces. Because I seem to ALWAYS do the same one. I think that's even the same face I did as a kid. lol
But as for those seeds I mentioned...
When we were done I cleaned them up and the Hubs got them ready to roast.
We did three different flavors instead of just the salted that we did last year,
Salted, cinnamon & sugar, and cheese flavored.
My favorite is, and always will be, the salted ones. They are seriously AMAZING and so addicting to snack on. Baby Bear even loves them!
I am really loving making these traditions with my little family. It is making each an every holiday just that much better!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Costume pics coming tomorrow!!!
