A Fly In???

6.17.2013

About a month ago we heard that there was going to be a fly in a nearby town. It was close to my BIL's house, so we decided that we would all go together. We made the mistake of letting Baby Bear know about it a couple of weeks in advance, so she has mentioned it quite a bit and was so excited for it!

Saturday was finally the day! Baby Bear was in a great mood from the start! She even let Papa Bear start taking pictures while I was getting ready.
I don't know why, but I love this picture. I know I am biased, but she is just so freaking cute!!!

Once I was ready we hit the road! We were all in a pretty great mood and ready to see what the heck this fly in business was all about. But first we had to go meet the BIL and his girlfriend. So Baby Bear was super excited when we finally got to their house! She loves them like you wouldn't believe.

Once we picked them up we drove over to the Fly In and it was NOT AT ALL what we expected, but still a fun experience! As soon as we walked in there was only one thing that Baby Bear wanted to go do...BOUNCY HOUSE!!!!!
She loved it! As soon as we saw it my first thought was "Oh no! She is going to go in and I am going to have to eventually have to go in there to pull her out when we are ready to move on...". But it was actually so nice because there was a woman there who let 6 kids in at a time, then they got to bounce for like 10 minutes, and finally she asked them all to get off so that the next group of kids could go in and play. Baby Bear got out with no issue and was okay with moving on.

Other than the bouncy house there was only one more thing that Baby Bear was just IN LOVE with. After she ate her popcorn chicken for lunch she was promised some ICE CREAM! I can not even begin to tell you how much my kid loves ice cream! But this time she was not the only one who got in on the action because this ice cream was amazing!

We all had a little of that lovely cone!

After our bellies were full we walked around for a little bit and were ready to go. Even though it was a fly in there were only a small hand full of planes and helicopters there. It seemed like most of them were probably just personal air crafts that people kept there and pulled out for the show. You couldn't even really get that close to them. You could go up in a helicopter if you wanted, but it was $35 a person. So for Papa Bear, Baby Bear, and I to go up in one for like 10 minutes it would have been $105!!! No thank you! If I am going to pay to fly there had better be a warm beachy destination on the other end of that flight!

So after having a little fun eating, walking around, petting animals, and stopping at two different bouncy houses we finally convinced Baby Bear it was time to leave the fly in and head back to the BIL's house for a quick drink and cool down before we went out again.
This time we were going to go walking along the river. There wasn't much there but we got some pretty cute pictures out of it!
She loved playing with Uncle R! They were looking for pelicans. It was so funny because she just kept walking around saying it was The Great Pelican Mystery and she was on the constant lookout for tracks!
After walking around for a little while we stopped at a local place to cool off with some refreshments and then it was back to their house again to cook out and have a little fun watching movies and just running around outside for a while.

By the time we left we had already been out and about for a little over 8 hours, so we were all exhausted. We decided to come home and relax, and now that I am looking back I am so happy that Papa Bear brought the nice camera so that we could have some good pictures of a day like that. It was so nice to just relax and have fun.
