Finally Feels Like Spring

Yesterday we had plans to surprise Baby Bear with going to the lake for a bit since she had been such a good girl on our grocery shopping day. While Papa Bear was distracting her with something on the television I was running around the house packing things that we would need to go to the lake.

We haven't ever really just taken her out to the lake to have fun and cook out for the day. So I over packed on some things, and totally forgot others. Like we had hotdogs and charcoal and lighter fluid, but forgot tongs, buns, and a lighter. lol. But everything worked out fine since the lake that we went to had supplies in a little shop. So once we loaded everything up we left without telling her where we were actually going.

 

She didn't need to know where we were going to be excited! She just knew that it was a surprise for her and we were bringing food along with us. 

When we arrived and she realized where we were she was so happy! Then she looked at us and said "But I didn't bring my bathing suit!" with a really upset face. It was so cute! I told her I packed it and we would put it on as soon as we parked. So we got to work on getting her changed and taking all of out stuff over to a picnic table for us to use for the day. 

Then she wanted nothing else but to go to the water, and I can not tell you how pretty this lake is to look around!

It was so pretty there and let me just tell you that I am a pool person! If I can't see to the bottom I will NOT get in. I loved the fact that it was super clear and it didn't get deep until you went WAY out. So I felt safe with her playing, although she didn't walk far away from us at any time, and the one time she did she tripped, went under, and freaked out.

Shortly after that happened she was done with the water for a bit so she took to the sand. But she was more than happy there!

 

While she was playing in the sand Papa Bear was walking around in the water and felt something climbing over his toes. He looked down and put his hand next to his foot and something crawled right into it. Look!

Is this not the cutest freaking turtle that you have ever seen?!?! It is a midland smooth soft shell turtle baby! I thought the little nose was too freaking cute! It was heading towards the children and dogs down the beach so we walked it the other way and then let it go. Shortly after this we were all feeling the effects of being at the lake for a few hours and we could tell that Baby Bear was getting super sleepy. So we went to the little shop and got the ice cream cone that we promised her and then started heading home. As soon as we left she was out like a light! 

The rest of the day consisted of relaxing and cooking. It was such a nice day and it is FINALLY starting to feel like spring here to me! Too bad it took so long that spring is almost over!
