Don't Touch That!!!

The other day I decided to start a google+ page for my business site. I don't know why, but did it.

Then I saw that every image that I have ever added onto my many many design practice blogs was showing in the photos page. I couldn't stand that! So I went through and made all of the albums private so that only I would see them. But then I couldn't stand the fact thatI could still see them! It made me feel like everyone could.

So I tested it. I removed the images for one blog design that I was still working on. If it deleted it then it was no big deal. I would just add them back. I checked it and nothing happened. So I went through and deleted OVER A THOUSAND IMAGES...

It was like digital organizing and I loved it. I just kept going through and clicking a couple hundred images at a time and hitting that magical delete button so that only a few images would remain for people to see when they looked at my photos.

Then  just after hitting delete for a group of 356 images I went onto my business blog to look for something and HOLY SHIT!!! My portfolio was overtaken with grey circles that had white lines through them. Then I started panicking and looking through blogs that I have designed. Every single one of them had images that I added into their blogs like backgrounds and headers missing. Because apparently I continue to host those images once the design has been transferred over....

To say that I freaked out would be a MASSIVE understatement! I put all projects for the night on hold and started frantically emailing everyone that I have designed a blog for in the last 7 or 8 months--if not more! As soon as they responded with login information I went in and fixed it. Luckily most of them had purchased file storage so I still had their images on hand, and I still have 6 or 7 more blogs to fix once I hear back from them. I was up late, and fixing them as fast as I could because it was completely my fault. I felt like such an idiot.

I didn't understand why it did it to all of them and not the one I tested it on though, so I went back and look and guess what... That shit was gone too! It apparently just took a while.

So if you start a google+ and don't like seeing all of the images just leave it alone! Make it so that only you can see them and then walk away!!! Trust me you will not like spending hours adding images back onto your blog! Especially if you don't have them anymore. Most of mine were business images so I had them backed up, but that isn't the case with my personal blog. If these images somehow get erased I am freaking screwed!
