my birthday {part 1}

9.02.2012

I had such a great Birthday! But I kind of think that it is just too much to put into one post. So you get it in two parts! One today and one tomorrow!

the winery

My birthday was actually on September 1, but on Friday Papa Bear and I went and did something on our own. Do you remember last Christmas when I FINALLY found a wine that I really liked? Well, for my birthday Papa Bear took me to the winery that actually makes that wine! I LOVED it!
 This was the view as you walked up to the winery from the parking lot.
 The people that you see are actually the owner and his daughter. I thought it was pretty cool that it is family run and operated. We saw the wife too. The winery actually belonged to her parents first.
 Isn't this beautiful? This is exactly what I think of when I think about a winery!
The outside didn't disappoint either!
The harvest actually happened last weekend instead of this weekend because the summer was so dry. So these were kind of the only grapes that we actually saw still attached to their vines.
The place was so beautiful and the tour and tasting was fun! I found out that I DO NOT like all wine! haha! I like sweet white wines, and Papa Bear likes some of the red. So we ended up bringing a few bottles home with us. We had one of them with the yummy steak dinner that he cooked for me for my birthday dinner!
Even though I was super stressed about leaving Baby Bear with her Grandma for the day, it ended up being a pretty amazing day and everyone came home safe and sound! I went to bed super excited for what I knew we were going to do on my actual birthday!

  3. We LOVE Wollersheim Winery - and it's always a great experience visiting as well. I love how beautiful their grounds are. You should head up to Door County and do a few winery tour there - so much fun! I highly recommend it!

  4. Wineries are so much fun! We have a great little town in MO that has 6 different wineries and they are great--like a little mini Napa. I'm a big fan of sweet red wines. I wish I could find a white that I enjoyed so I could prevent the dreaded red wine teeth staining. What a fun birthday surprise!
