Grocery Shopping

12.06.2012

It is getting to be that time of month again...
You know what I mean? That time when you are starting to get low on everything and you are going to have to go to the store and get a ton of groceries.
This month is going to be a new experience for me though. This month I actually need to sit down and make a list of everything that we need/want for food and make sure that most of it goes along the lines with what I am eating now.
I'm sure at least one of you is thinking..."Ummm, hello... This is you we are talking about. You make lists for everything! Don't you make lists to go to the grocery store?!?" Well I used to. But Papa Bear is more of a get whats on sale or see what looks good kind of person when we go to the store. I like to sit down and attempt a meal plan so that I at least have an idea of things to go on when I walk into the store. It's a process. Or it used to be... I have gotten out of this habit.
When I had my assessment and then my first session with a personal trainer over the last week I was told that DIET IS KEY. In order to do well with my weight loss it will help to have the right foods in the house. So now, not only do I need to get into the habit of making a list again to go to the store. But I also need to sit down and meal plan. This way when I make my grocer lists I am keeping in mind the sources of protein, sources of fiber, and watching sodium intake. (have you ever looked at how much sodium is in salad dressing?!? It's RIDICULOUS!) So now something that used to take me a few minutes to do will probably take me a couple of hours. Here is the issue though. I want to eat properly AND eat what my whole family is eating. So I am trying to think of recipes that meet my health requirements AND that Papa Bear and the EXTREMELY PICKY baby bear will enjoy. Because while eating healthier is a goodthing for everyone... Actually enjoying what we are eating while doing it would be even better!
So before I sit down tomorrow or the next day and put pen to paper, I have a question for all of you!!!

What are some of your favorite HEALTHY recipes? I would love to try it and if my family approves of them I think we will start a feature page on here or a weekly link up where you give your favorite HEALTHY recipes. I mean who wouldn't benefit from that right?!?!

Ps. There will be a post tomorrow where I am going to try to mention everything that I have learned so far in this journey that I have just begun and I will be linking it up with Jen's Health & Fitness Fridays Link Up!
