Three Toddlers

10.13.2013

A friend if mine is a substitute teacher and needed someone to watch her kids for the day last Tuesday. Hanna and Ariella are so sweet and really well behaved, so I had absolutely no problem saying that I would watch them! I figured Sydney would love to have a long play date. Plus I have had baby craze like you wouldn't believe, so I figured it would be a preview of having multiple children.

They were dropped off around 6:30 and we had a little muffin making fun. I figured we should do something right off the bat to distract them from the fact that their mommy was leaving to go to work. Once we made and ate muffins it was cartoon time.

It started great, but Sydney was definitely not wanting to share some of her toys. I hate to admit this, but sometimes she can be a very selfish little girl. She won't want anything to do with a toy until one of them has it in their hand. someone please tell me this it totally normal? Lol. I set them up to watch a couple of movies and everything settled down somewhat. I knew that naptime was coming soon, but worried that this was the time that everything would just fall apart. Ari is in a new place, so surely she is going to fight it as much as possible. Hannah doesn't nap,but we still want Sydney to, so will Sydney go down if Hannah isn't? These were all things I was thinking about when they started to act a little sleepy. I am sure these are normal things for a parent with multiple kids....so again another preview to if we ever have another. Ari went down within five minutes in my bed. Sydney went down just a few minutes later with only a minor tantrum, but that was to be expected. So while those two napped Hannah watched a movie quietly in the living room and I straightened the toys up from the last few hours of play and started this post. It was the first moment of calm all day.

Once everyone woke up we ventured outside for a little lunch time picnic.
They brought packed lunches, so I just had to make some sandwiches for Sydney and I. We ate out in the front yard and I was shocked at how easy lunch went. Let's just not even talk about how hard it was to get the three of them and all of their stuff for lunch ready to go outside. I literally started to take Ari outside with me and I realized that she didn't have any shoes on! So I had to put everything back down and put those on, then start the process of going out all over again.
After lunch we played with sidewalk chalk. This kept them occupied for a little while and then they decided bouncy balls in the sun room followed by frozen yogurt and My Little Pony on netflix would be more fun.

I have to admit. I had a ton of fun, but parenting three children ( even for a day ) is HARD! I barely sat down the entire time and I am utterly exhausted!

So KUDDOS to you mommies of multiples. I am not sure if I am ready to join you just yet. Lol
