Sickies Update

3.15.2012

Hey guys!

So I thought I would just do an update on here of what is going on with Baby Bear. Some of you know about her fever for the last few days and how concerned I have been.

The funny thing is that she had a consistent fever, but no other symptoms. So we just figured it was a virus like last time and monitored it. Well since yesterday was day FIVE of waking up with a fever of some sort, we decided to finally take her to the doctor. Have I told you how much she hates to go there...
We get to the doctor and while waiting we go ahead and get her to give a urine sample so that they can run that. We wait and let her play for a few minutes and when they call us back the fits begin. We finally got her to stand on the box to be weighed and my little two and a half year old weighs 22.6 lbs! I know this is silly but I'm so proud. We get into our room and start waiting for the doctor. She starts freaking out before the nurse even touches her. We had to fight with her for five minutes just to get her to open her mouth enough to do a strep swab (which came back negative) then the nurse leaves and we finally get her calmed down, only for our doctor to walk in two minutes later and her start freaking out again. She examines her and lets us know that the fever really concerns her, even if it is slowly going away right now. See, her fever never went below 101 for FIVE DAYS, yet she had no other symptoms of being sick. So she took one more look at her throat and it turns out her tonsils are super swollen, as in apparently they were touching, and have puss on them. But she doesn't have strep so we don't know exactly what it is. She sent of the urine samples to see if they tell us anything and we have started on a general antibiotic to hopefully get rid of whatever it is.
Now we just wait and hope that this medicine doesn't give her severe diaper rash like before. We do have our miracle ointment on hand, and are already giving her culturelle to get good bacteria into her system.

Thank you all for your concern. I will do my very best to keep you all updated on here.
As of this morning she seems pretty happy so we may head outside for a while!
