A Christmas Recap

1.07.2013

I can't believe that it had taken me this long to get this post going! Especially since I know it isn't going to take me that long to post it.
I have mentioned on here before that which Papa Bear's job Christmas was going to be a little different this year. It definitely was. Papa Bear had to work from 7am to 7pm Christmas Eve and Christmas day.  So we decided that we would do all of the gifts from us and our family here on Christmas Eve night after PB got home from work. Sydney had so much fun and honestly got so much that she seemed slightly overwhelmed.

On Christmas Eve she got Minnie Mouse wall decalsMinnie Mouse headphones, an Apron custom made by  The Doodle Bug Baby Boutique, a helmet, and a basket that went with a bike she didn't know she was getting yet. Then from her grandma and uncle she got a babydoll, a fort building kit,  penguin nesting dolls, and a little sweater with matching gloves and hat. Then when she thought we were done we told her to close her eyes and sit there because she had one more present from Mommy and Daddy. Then we rolled out her big girl bike!
She loved it and played with it and her baby doll until we finally made her go to bed at 9:00.
Once she went to bed we brought her Santa gift in from the garage and set it up.

She had honestly been begging for a chair and a foot stool for months! Every time we asked her what she wanted from Santa that was exactly what she said. So that is what she got.
When she woke up on Christmas morning she was so happy! We spent a little time with  Papa Bear before he left for work and then we got the little diva dressed in her Christmas dress.
It's always so funny when we put a dress on her because her personality just changes. She is all of a sudden little miss prissy butt and the biggest ham ever!
Once we were all dressed I was ready to skype with my family down in Georgia. We opened presents as we skyped and kiddo got way to much again! But some of her favorites that she got were the Step 2prepare & share kitchen, a trunk of princess dresses, and dress up clothes for her build a bear bunny named Jilly. But we honestly got so much more!
The only thing that felt normal to me on Christmas day was when Sydney and I made our Christmas ham since we still had family coming over to see us for dinner. This ham is exactly what my mom and I ALWAYS made for Christmas. It was a very special and exciting thing to me when I was growing up, and it will always be such a great memory for me. For the last two years I have carried on that tradition with Sydney. Although at this point all she really does is steal my cherries! That's exactly what she is doing in this picture.
Then she helped me pour the honey, pineapple juice, and cherry juice glaze over our decorated ham.

After that we really just spent time with family and anxiously awaited PB coming home. It was my first Christmas away from home and it was definitely not perfect, but we made the best of what we could and I think it turned out pretty great!
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas as well!
