How Do You Like It? (pt 2)

1.08.2013

A few months ago I wrote this post where I expressed how nervous I was about the winter fast approaching since this is my first winter here. For those of you that are newer around here I am from Georgia (which rarely gets snow) and this is my first winter in a new state that is known for pretty bad winters. So I have been terrified as the calendar got closer and closer to winter.
It has been something to get used to for sure!
I officially own my first pair of spiffy new snow boots- thanks to a super amazing hubby who loves me.
I never thought I would need to own a pair, but here we are! lol
I have officially seen more snow than I have ever seen in my 24 years of life. I have also shoveled snow for the first time ever. I never thought it was possible to be so hot and so cold at the same time. But shovel snow for an hour or more and you will see otherwise!
I am slowly getting out of the Georgia mindset though when it comes to snow. At first I refused to drive as long as there was snow on the ground. Where I come from the state practically shuts down until the snow is gone when there is an inch or two of snow. Now I get out and drive and don't think much about it because it's not really on the road right now. I also keep expecting it to be gone within a couple of days. WRONG! It has been there for a couple of weeks now and I have been told that it will probably not melt until this spring. THAT IS JUST CRAZY!
It's doing things like this that make winter fun though.

We went sledding right after Christmas and it was so much fun! We all walked away with something being a little sore though. Well, everyone but kiddo. She had cushion on her butt from her snow suit and she never fell out of the sled. I was terrified going down the first time. But afterwards it was so fun!
We have also been letting her sled around the house quite a bit. Take her out there for about an hour and she is exhausted and ready to relax when it is time to come in.
The next winter thing to try is skiing!
I do love driving down the road and seeing this though. There is just something about the fields full of snow and untouched other than by snow mobiles. It's GORGEOUS!
So to finally answer that question that I have been asked so many times since we moved up here...
I really don't mind living here so much. I actually like it. But there will always be things about Georgia that I will miss since that has always been home to me.
