I'm sure that you're all going to think that I am so silly for this, but I got to do yard work Saturday and I LOVED it! We cleared out the area in front of the house. It was over grown and most of it just needed to go! After that we had to bundle all of the brush so that the county can pick up. Then I decided that the lawn needed to be mowed and the sidewalk swept. I know this doesn't sound like that much, but my body is feeling the manual labor today!
I have to admit that I had so much fun. We were out there working together and it brought me back to my childhood. Growing up we were always in the yard. My mom had a massive green thumb. So if it was warm enough, we were out there planting, raking, or just cleaning our yard. I don't know why, but that is such a fond memory for me! I love that we are doing it with Baby Bear now. She has fun for a while. Then at one point she had to stop and eat peanut butter sandwiches on the porch while Mommy cuts the grass in front of the house. Then she was helping me put away some of the tools and I let her carry the little shovel. She somehow tripped on it and fell face first onto the concrete sidewalk! The poor thing scraped her chin and busted her lip. She was a trooper though, because once I cleaned her up she wanted to go right back out to Daddy!
It wasn't the prettiest day outside, but i think all in all it was a fun day as a family! We did some yard work and then came in and had lunch. I know she is too young to really remember this moment for the rest of her life, but I hope that we always make memories like this with her so that she can remember them the way that I do. I will never forget working hard beside my mom in our yard as we grew up.
