How do you like it?

8.13.2012

There is one question that I have been asked numerous times since I moved from Georgia (the state I was born and raised in) to our new state way up north.
HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?
Can I be honest with you all? I don't feel like I can really answer that question yet. I have been here for about 6 months. I have only experienced half of the year. The summers here are very similar to the summers in Georgia. So I am not feeling it yet. I just hear that the summers are shorter here. You actually get to experience 4 different seasons, where in Georgia you only get two. So I am looking forward to actually having a fall! That will probably seriously be my favorite time of the year. It's the winter season that I  am TERRIFIED of. You think I am kidding right?? I am used to cold days in the winter, but rarely ever much snow.
This is what I feel like I have to look forward to...

Let me tell you something. This girl has never owned a proper winter coat, snow boots, or a really warm pair of gloves. I get to learn a whole new form of shopping. Granted, winter clothes are super cute!!! I'm just nervous and may need a little help being reminded that I will make it through. lol. Papa Bear says that as long as I stay busy I will be okay. I'm thinking as long as I keep the blinds closed and don't look outside too much I will be fine. haha!
So what do you stay at home moms do to stay sane when there is snow on the ground? Help me and I just might be able to give a positive answer to that question at the end of the winter! !

  1. I was born and raised in Indiana and we had our fair share of snow. But thank God I have only been a stay at home mom in Florida. But I think you will enjoy it. At least at first. Snow will be really fun for baby bear!

  2. As a born & raised Minnesotan, I can tell you it gets so cold that cute goes out the window, haha! You will be bundled from head to toe every time you leave the house! But fall is wonderful... You will make it through the winter - promise. I'd find an indoor play/gym place maybe to take S to so you don't get cabin fever? I didn't have kids when I lived in the frozen tundra, so sorry I'm not much help!

  4. If you go missing I will come look for you. Tim's cousin lives in Chicago and one morning thought his car was stolen...found it down the street when the snow melted in spring. He just forgot where he parked it and it was covered when they plowed the street!! :)

  6. You can do it! Find a play-space inside like at a CFA or a mall. Also there are entire pin boards dedicated to indoor activites!

  8. Ha---this makes me laugh! You will survive---thanks to some indoor play places, play dates, and a little more television than summertime:) And I love that you are excited about winter coats---because I despise coats and gloves after growing up in them:) And you could always take up snowshoeing?!?!

  10. This is sooo funny, I was talking today how I was ready for fall, and got told to wait until October for it to cool a bit. Not a fan. I may also do something on the blog about this awful rain and humidity! Craziness.
