Unplugged "Weekend"

5.22.2013

Most of you don't know this, but Saturday and Sunday are days that I usually get the most work done. But Monday and Tuesday are my "weekend". Papa Bear has off of work and I usually leave my computer alone on these days if I can.

This "weekend" I was almost completely unplugged. On Monday we went over to a friend's house and had a play date with Baby Bear and her two little girls. We played inside for a little bit, then we went outside and the kids were having A BLAST.
Here they are "fishing" off of "their boat" with sticks. It was seriously one of the cutest things ever. They had so much fun and were going 100 miles a minute the entire time we were there. The funny thing is that Mommy and Daddy were chopped liver for the most part while we were there. She wanted to show everything to Mrs. Becky or run everything by Becky. It was adorable. Then we had to head out so that we could go home and clean up before going out for dinner. That's when the tantrums came. Baby Bear is known for screaming when it is time to leave a play date (fair warning Stephany). But she had so much fun and was so tired that she slept the whole way home. Then when we got home we threw her into the bath, let her wear whatever dress she wanted, and then went to our favorite local mexican restaurant to share some amazing fajitas. After that we just relaxed. It was so nice to spend quality time with my family, and my phone had died about an hour into our play date so I was completely unplugged for the rest of the night. It was so amazing not to be checking instagram or making sure I didn't have any work emails waiting for me. We were all so exhausted by the end of the day that even Papa Bear and I were in bed and asleep at 9:00.

Then yesterday we decided that we were going to be staying around the house and having a more relaxing day. So that's just what we did. We woke up and we decided that we wanted to test out our new griddle by making some blueberry pancakes. I had a little help mixing everything together.
We went out early and ran a few errands. Then we came home and just did things around the house. There was a little yard work done and a lot of sitting around and talking while Papa Bear worked his magic on the grill.
I can not even begin to tell you how freaking good those ribs were. Let's put it this way, between Papa Bear, Baby Bear, and I... there was not a single rib left! They were THAT GOOD! Papa Bear really knows what he is doing with the grill.

After cleaning up our super messy dinner we promised Baby Bear that we would go to the park. So we lathered ourselves in bug repellent (you do not want to see how many bites I have...), put Piggy's harness on, kiddo hopped onto her bike and we rode to the park. There were baseball games galore going on. So she was watching them as we rode by to the part of the park that her favorite playground is on. We played for a bit and then all came home to shower and get comfy. We ended our night with a movie or two and some relaxing in the living room.

It was such a great "weekend" for us, and it was so nice to just stay "unplugged". And I have to admit that, as we were laying in bed and watching the videos of Oklahoma on the iPad, I was feeling very blessed and very lucky that our past two days had gone the way they had. I could not imagine what all of those people are going through.
