New Experiences

4.12.2012

This is a fresh start for my family. We live in a different house, in a different state, and this means lots of new experiences for me and my family. I have decided to share a few of these experiences with you!

Okay we live in a TINY town and apparently its common, since we live so close to town, to have mail boxes actually ON the house instead of on the street. I mean the mail carrier actually gets out of their little vehicle and brings it up to my door! Is this odd to anyone else? I totally thought they only did that in the movies!

I have found another huge benefit to living in such a small town! We live within walking distance of a park with a playground for Baby Bear, and even closer to a long walking trail along a river for Momma! I am excited because I know we will get a ton of use out of these two things.

There is a major negative that I have found to this town. At least in my mind...It's too cold. Spring is just starting and here this means cool weather still. But where I'm from it's already super hot and I was already getting a slight sun tan. We actually had Baby Bear out in her winter jacket today! The wind is crazy and that makes it even colder! I'm ready for shorts weather!!!

Another new thing involves my house. I have a sun room for the first time ever. This has been one of Baby Bear's favorite rooms because she feels like she is outside without actually being outside. We are setting up our outside table in there and making it so that we can enjoy summer days out there. I'm really looking forward to it!

We are renting an OLD house. I mean old, I think it was built in the 40's. There are a few quirks but I love it! I would never purchase it, but renting it for a couple of years is good in my mind. I will (maybe) get pictures for you guys and slowly start putting them on here. I will also continue to share my new and somewhat funny experiences with you as they happen.

I have missed you all and am so happy to be back to blogging!

  1. Oh I think the mailbox on the house thing is really cool! So old fashion! And I live in the country so I am jealous that you can walk to the park or anywhere for that matter!

  2. I think I need a sunroom to save us from W's cries for "ou - ide" when it's just way too hot to go!

  4. Mailboxes on the houses is fairly common in my town...just depends on the age of your neighborhood. Old houses yes, new houses no. Kinda funny like that. I'm so glad y'all are close to a park and a trail that will be amazing! And just to make you feel better it's gotten cold in the south again. St least in morning nd night. I had to bring J's winter clothes out of boxes last night....booooo! Here's hoping warm weather makes an appearance again soon :)

  5. Oh just you wait until winter next year! It may be a good cost saving time to buy more winter clothes on sale now to prepare since you may not have any from living in Georgia. This year has been quite mild and last year it hit -10 during the day. I've heard Wisconson winters are cold as well. One thing I've learned moving to SD; always prepare ahead of time. :) Glad you're finding some positives to the move! I love the mailbox on the porch as well.
