a lullaby

8.11.2012

So I was talking to a blogger friend of mine about a month ago and she mentioned that she sings a certain song to her daughter every night and has since birth, so this song has great meaning to her. I thought this was so super sweet.
Well, that night I was playing with Baby Bear and about to put her to bed when she looked at me, climbed into my lap, and said "Mommy, sing me a lullaby." I was shocked and touched all at the same time. So I sang her my own little lullaby. Its something that isn't a real song, but I have sang it to her before when she was a baby. Now, a month later, every time that I take her to bed she says those magical words. "Mommy, sing me a lullaby." So every night I sing her this little song at least three times. Only now she will sing it with me. Its a very special moment between me and Baby Bear that I get to experience every night. It is our own little song  and it will forever be "our lullaby". I will sing it to her for as long as she asks me to and my heart will melt into a big mommy puddle every single time!
Do any of you have something like this that you do with your children?

  1. So sweet! As a demanding 3 year old, Logan has gotten a little more, shall we say, vocal about EVERY song he wants sung to him. Sadly, the theme song to Thomas and Friends is usually his pick off the menu! However, when he was little, and in those lucky moments when he'll let me, I sing him my own rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star personalized for his name. It reminds me of when he was just a little guy. *MISS IT* :)

  2. My mom always sat at my bed & sang a lullaby to me when i was little. I remember it. It was the one that says "lullaby & goodnight, little baby is sleeping" - i probably have the words wrong but something like that! Haha! My husband is a musician & he says he will write a cd of lullabies before we have our first one! :)

  3. That is just so sweet! I have never sang to Chloe, because I can't sing...lol! I'd probably give her a headache if I did. But I do rub her back and play with her hair until she's asleep. She loves that!
